Endocrine disruptors are present in our everyday products. But why are they controversial? And how do they negatively affect our health? These are chemicals that disrupt our hormone system. They are found particularly in cosmetics and hygiene products. In fact, 40% of hygiene and beauty products contain it.

Thus, we are constantly and daily exposed to these products that negatively affect our hormones. This can cause long-term cancers, fertility disorders or neurodegenerative diseases. 1. Silicones

Silicones are endocrine disruptors present in a good part of the cosmetics we use. Silicone is often used as a texture agent. It is often found in products such as shampoo, creams or deodorant. Like all  disruptors, they can have a negative effect on your health in the long run. It is therefore important to read the label of your products.

Silicones can be present in your products under other names. Indeed, if your products contain Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, a derivative of siloxane or meticone, they contain silicones. Brands that do not use silicones usually display it proudly on the bottle. So prefer products with “no silicone” mention.

2. The parabens

Parabens are also endocrine disruptors. They are used as a preservative. They are found in creams or shampoos, for example. It is important to read the list of ingredients to avoid it. It may indeed be present in a form of substitution, methylisothiazolinone. A mention “paraben free” can hide a replacement paraben.

Paraben can be present in your products under different names. Pay attention to names like butyl paraben, ethyl paraben, methyl paraben and propyl paraben. 3. The triclosan

5. The BHA

7. Alkylphenols
