Large numbers of delivery boxes arrive very quickly, but most of them can be reused.
Organise Storage at Home
Large delivery boxes can even be used for storage in a loft, garage or even under a bed. Smaller boxes can be folded up to create drawer dividers, and even cut down to create shelving liners. Simply label up the boxes and stack them up – they’ll hold their shape for months to come.
Pad Future Parcels
Scrunched up cardboard is also a good filler for something that you are posting. You can simply tear up the cardboard and scrunch it up loosely, then place the scrunched up cardboard around the objects that you are posting, such as pictures or other items. When you have finished adding the items to the box you can seal up the box with packing tape. This is far better than having to use expensive bubble wrap.
Use It in the Garden
Use old corrugated cardboard for weed suppression in garden borders, or to create Seedling Pots in cardboard tubes. Simply lay flat sheets of cardboard directly onto the soil between plantings and as the cardboard breaks down over the growing season new weeds are suppressed. The cardboard tubes of toilet paper can be made into a Seedling Pot by rolling them up and taping the base.
Pack for a House Move
Delivery boxes are very sturdy and can be reused several times before they begin to soften. So when you next receive a delivery, consider keeping a flat version in a cupboard – it will come in very handy for future packing.
Donate or Pass On
Donate your old cardboard packaging to local schools, community centres, and other organisations. Many people are looking for free, clean cardboard for various uses and will appreciate your donation before it is sent to recycling centres.
