Dream Home Improvements for 2018

Roger Walker January 11, 2018 Reviews Comments are off

The new year means bringing about change for many people. Whether it’s a new look, sorting out their finances, a new job or home improvements – the start of a new year seems like the perfect time to start fresh projects. If home improvements are in your sights for 2018, what are your ideal projects? Are any of these dream home changes on your 2018 to-do list?

A loft conversion – This is a viable option for those with a modern and structurally sound roof space. Most conversions don’t require planning permissions and can add significant value to your home. Perhaps you’re in desperate need of an additional bedroom or a home office? Maybe you have extravagant plans to turn your loft into a games room or man cave. Whatever your personal needs, a loft conversion can be a great solution to adding much-desired space to your living area.

A new bathroom – Bathrooms and kitchens are two of the most important spaces in your home. Potential buyers look favourably on contemporary, stylish and hygienic bathroom suites. If you’re still sporting an outdated suite of avocado or pink, you might want to switch to white. Other luxury additions include a free-standing tub, plush rugs, ornate mirrors and mood lighting. If you want to increase your comfort this year, then the bathroom is an excellent place to start.

New windows – Is it time to rip out your old panes and frames? Get more economical in 2018 with energy efficient and stylish new double-glazed windows throughout. Modern windows are more secure, will save you money on your energy bills and come in a wide range of materials, colours and styles. For dublin windows and doors, visit http://www.keanewindows.ie/

Landscaping – Maybe this is the year you want to spruce up the garden? First impressions do count when it comes to the exterior of your home, so tidying, weeding and fixing any broken paving stones is a great place to start. Try to find a space for a designated social area with some garden furniture and a barbecue to act as a focal point for summer gatherings. If the area available is not huge, consider a folding down table attached to the wall that can be folded up when not in use. More extravagant purchases could include a summer house, water feature or above-ground pool!

Paint job – A simple lick of paint can make a big difference to the look and feel of your interior and exterior. Paint can be picked up at little cost, so why not freshen up your rooms, fences, front door or wooden window frames?

An extension – With the current market conditions, many homeowners are choosing to improve rather than move. With this in mind, the need for additional space is a problem affecting many families. Although a more expensive option that will most likely require planning permission, maybe you dream of a downstairs toilet, spare bedroom, dining room or playroom? Kitchens are one of the most important rooms of the home and an extension could provide the opportunity to extend your kitchen, meaning more worktop and storage space.
