The end of TV night?

Roger Walker April 26, 2023 Entertainment Comments are off

Increasingly reports are coming through that families no longer sit around watching the television in the numbers that they once did.  It was once a regular occurrence for all of the members of the family to gather in the living room, or the sitting room to watch an evening of programs.  When there was the choice of just two channels, and then three, and eventually four in the early 1980s,  this invariably led to several arguments.  The key element for the watching of television then,  as it is now was making sure that you use a TV aerial installation Stroud based company like https://steveunettaerials.co.uk/our-services/aerial-services/tv-aerial-repair/tv-aerial-repair-stroud.

Television programs were the staple entertainment for the evening from the 1960s through to the 2000s.  The introduction of satellite television made the competition for watching time within the family an even greater challenge for program producers.  Now with streaming services allowing us to watch television programs anywhere anytime and on a multitude of formats, has meant that this competition has increased tenfold.  Added to this is also the improvements technologically of computer games.  The humble board game also remains a popular pursuit for many families of an evening.

This individual approach to watching television means that event programming has started to become something of a minority.  With the exceptions of state occasions and sporting events the broadcasting of a television programs final show  (such as Lost or the big reveal of a “whodunit” mystery) has become lessened when the entire series can be streamed in one go.  This has seen the slow release of some shows on streaming services.
