Don’t Make These Flooring Purchase Mistakes

It’s easy for a shopper to feel overwhelmed when looking at the many options that are available. It’s fun to look at different textures, colours and materials. However, you should also be aware of the common mistakes shoppers make. Avoiding these common mistakes will help you to make an informed and smart decision.

  1. Not Considering the Purpose of the Room: When choosing new flooring it is important to take into account the purpose of the room and how much foot traffic the area receives. Carpets may make a wonderful choice in a living room but may not work well for an area with high traffic, such as a hallway or kitchen. These areas may benefit from hardwood or tile, as these materials are durable and easy to maintain. For Engineered Wood Flooring, visit www.irwintiles.ie/wooden-flooring/engineered-wood-flooring

2. Not Thinking About Your Lifestyle: Always consider your lifestyle before choosing flooring. You’ll need to select a floor that is durable if you have children or pets. You may consider flooring that’s slip resistant if you have mobility problems or are older. This will reduce your risk of falling.

3. Planning for the Future is Important: Floors are a major investment and planning for the future is essential. You may consider timeless and classic flooring options if you plan to sell your house in the future. This will make it more appealing to many potential buyers. You may choose flooring that is in line with your style and preference if you intend to stay at your house for a long time.

4. Ignoring the Installation Process: Floor installation is a time-consuming and complex process. When choosing flooring, it’s crucial to take into account the installation process. Some flooring options may need professional installation while others are suitable for DIY enthusiasts. The cost can be higher if you choose a professional installer, but a DIY project can also save money.
