A holiday let is a great investment – if you want a property that you can use and enjoy when you want a holiday that you can also let out to others, then this is a good choice for you. However, when you buy a holiday let that you are going to be renting out, you should familiarise yourself with the responsibilities that you will have as an owner of a holiday let property to protect yourself and those that are renting from you.

In order to make sure that your guests are safe and can relax and enjoy their holiday, you need to make sure that your holiday let is safe for the people that use it. If it is a family friendly property, make sure that it is suitable for children and you should also make sure that there aren’t any hazards, such as exposed wires, tripping hazards or dangerous objects that can be easily accessed.

You should also leave appropriate information for who to call if an emergency happens, and the details of the nearest pharmacies and hospitals to the area.

Fire is something else that you need to protect against. Make sure that the holiday home is fitted with fire blankets and extinguishers as well as smoke alarms. Make sure that you have a written plan that people can look at telling them what they should do if a fire does break out. Make sure that all of the furnishings are also fire safe, and get electrical appliances tested regularly.

Gas also needs to be checked regularly to ensure that it is safe. Get a professional like this boiler servicing Cheltenham based company https://www.blu-fish.co.uk/gas-heating-services-cheltenham/boiler-repair-cheltenham/ to check it and issue a certificate to say that the boiler has been deemed safe for use. You also need to ensure that the property has carbon monoxide detectors, and these need to be placed in all rooms that gas or oil is burnt in as this is where they will be able to detect the first signs of a problem.

By making sure that you do all that you can to keep your holiday home safe, you can help to prevent problems and dangerous incidents and ensure that both your tenants and you can enjoy the holiday to the fullest.
