Creating a comprehensive holiday packing checklist can help ensure you don’t forget any essentials. This also makes your trip stress-free.

What travel documents do I need?

You will need your passport, your tickets and boarding passes, your driving licence, your reservation documents, your credit or debit card and cash. You will also need your travel guidebook and a map.

What clothes should I pack?

You will need T-shirts if you are travelling to a warm country, trousers or jeans, shorts or skirts, dresses, cardigans and a jacket. You may also need swimwear if you plan on making a splash. Remember your underwear and socks as well as your sleepwear. Pack some comfortable walking shoes and sandals or flip-flops. If you are skiing, pack your sportswear plus a scarf and gloves.

What toiletries will I need?

Don’t forget your toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant, a brush or comb, a razor and sunscreen. You may also need your makeup and remover, feminine hygiene products and your glasses or sunglasses. The Irish Times points out that skincare essentials are an important part of packing.

Car hire documents

If you have rented a car, make your way to the collection area to get the vehicle. You may want to take out car hire excess insurance which is an insurance policy that covers the excess amount you would be responsible for paying if your rental car is damaged or stolen. When you rent a car, the company’s basic insurance often includes a significant excess, which can leave you liable for a payment in the event of an accident or theft. You can browse for car hire excess insurance through Money Maxim .

What electronics should I bring?

Bring your mobile phone and charger, your laptop or tablet, a camera, headphones or earbuds, a power bank, a travel adapter, USB Cables and a portable speaker.

Packing tips for the traveller

Rolling clothes saves space and minimises wrinkles. Keep items like documents, medication and valuables in your carry-on bag. Ensure you have extra space or a foldable bag for items you may purchase during your trip.
