Working on a Building Site

Roger Walker January 31, 2022 Business and Management Comments are off

Something that is a huge part of the economy and continues to be needed is the construction trade. With the population increasing and the demand for homes and facilities always there, construction sites are one of the few businesses that have continued to carry on working over the past couple of years, despite many industries being forced to close down.

A building site is a place that has a lot going on and it must be well managed and well organised in order to work well. As well as this, the most important thing to be aware of on the site kis health and safety. Because there is so much going on and so much machinery being used, from bulldozers to bending machines like these https://www.cotswold-machinery-sales.co.uk/euromac-bending-machines/horizontal-bending-machines/ , it is important that everyone is aware of the correct health and safety procedures.

On a building site, there is a potential for many accidents to happen, here are a few common ones that safety guidelines should help to reduce…

Electric Shocks – Working on a building site means that often there will be exposed wres or incomplete electrical work to be done. Care must be taken to avoid touching these as electric shock can be deadly.

Falling from Height – Because a lot of the work on a building site will have to be done on higher parts of the building, like the roof and upstairs windows, this means that working at height is necessary. Care must be taken when doing this as falls from a height can cause death or long-term health problems.

Trips and Falls – The uneven ground and the fact that work will be outdoors and, in all weathers, means that care must be taken when walking around the site as there are plenty of hazards lurking that could cause a nasty fall.

A building site will have many people working on it doing a variety of different roles – this helps to ensure that the site runs smoothly and safely, and ensures that all the work is done. Here are some of the people that you might find on a building site…

Construction Vehicle Operators – These are people who are specifically trained to handle the vehicles that work on a building site, such as diggers and bulldozers. They usually will also do other jobs too, such as putting up scaffolding and moving equipment around.

Site Manager – This is the person who is in charge of the site and has all the details needed on the entire building project. They will be in charge of the planning and arrangements and will ensure that everything comes together at the right time. This person will also be reporting to the clients.

Tradespeople – Some jobs that are done on a building site require years of training and skills in order to be done safely and correctly. These include installation of gas and heating, as well as electrical work.
